
COVID-19 has put enormous stress on the people, processes, and technology systems that the State of California relies on to deliver services to its 40M residents. The State of California's Chief Information Officer (CIO), Amy Tong*, is not just responsible for keeping the fundamental technology systems that run the State up and working but also – critically – in helping departments and agencies acquire new technology solutions integral to the State’s response to COVID-19, wildfires, homelessness, and natural disasters.
